Description of work

The original Series 2000 MTU engines were removed from the engine room through a hatch into the salon.  The engines disconnected, aligned with the hatch and then jacked up at each corner so that they could be supported with a wooden crib.  Then, they were slid back onto the reinforced cockpit deck.  From the cockpit, these engines were removed from the vessel by an overhead crane.  The same crane (the same day) placed the new Series 2000 MTU engines on the cockpit structures.  The new engines followed the process in reverse.  They were slid back into the salon and lowered into the engine room, using the same crib.  Finally, they were rigged into place in the engine room.

The owners of the Dreamin’ On chose a repower solution because they wanted the dependability and performance advantage of the new engines.  They fish in this vessel all over the world and the original engines were due for overhaul.  They wanted the warranty and reliability of performance that come with the new engine packages.  After the repower, they campaigned the boat in Costa Rico and in the Mediterranean, reporting great fishing success on both trips!
